This singular event features researchers, practitioners, and advocates from around the world who collaborate to address the human rights issue of elder abuse. Using a short presentation format, selected attendees will present the major efforts in their country to address the problem. Attendees at the meeting will discuss strategies for fostering collaborative efforts among INPEA members. The meeting will also include multiple opportunities for networking and building working groups to address human rights issues concerning elder abuse, both now and in the future.
Thanks!
Join INPEA at the GSA/IAGG in San Francisco, California for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2017 and Mark INPEA's 20th Anniversary
Come celebrate INPEA’s work to engage the World in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) Commemoration Event with colleagues from around the globe who will share information, research findings, and their stories of protecting older persons and defending their human rights, through research, education and advocacy.INPEA (inpea.net) members advocate for strong supports for older people in programmes and policy—at country, regional and international levels with demonstrated success. This commemoration event will celebrate the accomplishments achieved over the 20 years since INPEA’s founding at IAGG in 1997 and show the way forward for human rights based solutions.
Special Programme Note: One arena in which INPEA plays a vital role is through our advocacy efforts at the United Nations, now more actively considering a convention on the human rights of older persons. Get the inside story on INPEA’s work and how elder abuse was recognized as a major Thematic Cluster for the 8th UN OEWGA debate at UN HQ in New York this July 2017.
